Cheap Home Phone (For less than $100)

We all have different reasons for a home phone:

  • Cell service isn’t good enough at home
  • Need to talk with a child when they get home from school
  • Need a fax line
  • Need a second line
  • Don’t want to rely on a phone with a battery for emergency
  • Convenience
  • Call Quality Increase
  • Decrease cell minutes
  • Your kid(s) is using your cell for games and you need to make a call

No matter the reason here is my latest recommendation for an affordable home phone.

What you will need:

  1. GMail account that hasn’t used the Google Voice account (Free)
  2. AT&T 210 Corded Phone ($10) – AMAZON
  3. OBi202 VoIP Phone Adapter ($69.99) – AMAZON
  4. OBiWiFi Wireless Adapter for OBi202 ($19.99) – AMAZON

Steps:

  1. Identify what problem you’re trying to solve
  2. Determine the best path to take based on your needs

In my case I am trying to enable faxing and enable my kids to call if left alone

Based on that I only need a phone line and a simple phone

  1. If not done yet create a Google account here → (Free)
  2. Then purchase the 3 pieces OBi202 VOIP box + OBiWiFi adapter +Phone

Once you have those in place it’s now time to set it up.  You can follow the OBIHAI here (SETUP LINK)
